AIM
Aim is without a doubt the most important aspect of putting. This part of the game requires complete precision and understanding. The hole cup is the smallest target we aim at during a round of golf and a 1 degree error in aim can mean the golfer is aiming nowhere near there intended target. More often than not here is where the golfers compensatory stroke begins.

Being able to read a putt properly is a skill in itself and indeed for many golfers an absolute mystery.
To understand how difficult this skill is you need only ask a golfer what they are looking at and what they see when reading a green and how they then formulate an aimspot. Combined with the fact that the Greenkeeper and Course Architects sole goal is to make you misread the putt by placing pins in areas where the break is the opposite to everything your peripheral vision is seeing.
